Frequently asked questions

Seychelles offers warm, tropical weather year-round, but the most inviting conditions occur during April, May, October, and November, when the seas are calm, humidity is moderate, and skies are clear – perfect for swimming, snorkeling, and diving. The dry season from May to October brings more sunshine and steady breezes, while rainfall peaks between December and January, though showers are usually brief and followed by clear skies.

Most travellers do not need a pre-arranged visa. On arrival, you receive a Visitor’s Permit, valid for up to three months. To obtain it, you’ll need a valid passport, proof of accommodation, onward or return ticket, and sufficient funds. All visitors must also complete a Digital Travel Authorization before arrival.

Inter-island travel is straightforward and varied:

  • Ferries: Regular services run between Mahé, Praslin, and La Digue. The Cat Cocos ferry links Mahé with Praslin and La Digue, while Cat Rose connects Praslin to La Digue.

  • Domestic flights: Frequent short flights connect Mahé and Praslin, departing every 10-15 minutes at peak times.

  • Private transfers: Many resorts arrange bespoke transfers by speedboat, seaplane, or helicopter to reach remote or private islands.

The official currency is the Seychellois Rupee (SCR). ATMs are available on Mahé, Praslin, and La Digue, though less so on smaller islands. Credit and debit cards are widely accepted in hotels, resorts, and larger restaurants, while US dollars and euros are often welcomed. It’s advisable to carry some local cash for markets, taxis, and smaller vendors.

he Seychelles is a playground for both relaxation and adventure, offering experiences that highlight its unique landscapes and culture. On land, explore Morne Seychellois National Park on Mahé with its rainforest trails, waterfalls, and panoramic viewpoints, or wander through Vallée de Mai on Praslin, home to the legendary coco de mer palms and rare bird species.

The beaches are among the most beautiful in the world – Anse Lazio and Anse Source d’Argent are especially iconic—perfect for swimming, sunbathing, and photography. For marine enthusiasts, the islands offer exceptional snorkelling and diving in coral-rich marine parks, with opportunities to spot turtles, rays, and colourful reef fish.

Island-hopping is another highlight: cycle through laid-back La Digue, or visit private islands such as Denis or Félicité for luxury and seclusion. To experience the local culture, stroll through markets in Victoria, sample authentic Creole cuisine, or join festivals like Festival Kreol that showcase the islands’ rich heritage.
