Aurora Expeditions Sylvia Earle, Antarctica
Overview
Named after legendary oceanographer Dr Sylvia Earle, this next-generation expedition vessel is purpose-built for discovery and environmental connection. Designed for minimal impact and maximum immersion, the Sylvia Earle features the revolutionary Ulstein X-BOW® hull, which reduces wave impact for smoother, quieter sailings through the Southern Ocean.
Accommodating around 132 passengers, the ship combines serious expedition capability with thoughtful comforts. All cabins have ocean views, most with private balconies, and public spaces include a glass-walled observation lounge, lecture theatre, and a dedicated Citizen Science Centre. The ship also features the world’s first fully operational science centre on a passenger vessel, named the “Sylvia Earle Science & Conservation Centre.”
Guests benefit from a highly experienced expedition team, multiple daily landings via Zodiac, and optional activities like kayaking, snorkelling, and polar diving. As a certified Climate Neutral vessel, the Sylvia Earle is as much about exploration as it is about protecting the very environments it visits.
