Frequently asked questions

The ideal time depends on your chosen destination, and you’ll find detailed seasonal guides on our specific country pages. Broadly speaking, Southern Africa has a dry season from May to October and a green season from November to April. East Africa’s main dry season runs from June to October, with a shorter one from December to March. Rainfall is most common in April-May and again in November. Whatever the month, there’s always somewhere offering an unforgettable safari – and we’ll help you find it.

Requirements vary by destination and are easily arranged through your GP or a travel clinic. We recommend speaking with your doctor at least a month before departure to check routine vaccinations and arrange any destination-specific ones, such as yellow fever. Malaria prevention may also be advised, depending on where and when you travel. Bring insect repellent, cover up at dusk, and wear closed shoes. If you prefer to avoid malaria risk entirely, we can arrange superb malaria-free safari options.

A safari is a fantastic way for families to connect and share once-in-a-lifetime experiences. Many camps welcome children of all ages, with some offering dedicated childcare and malaria-free locations for peace of mind. Very remote camps may set a minimum age of 5 or 6, but we work with partners who are happy to accommodate younger children too.

While not essential, a private vehicle offers more flexibility, privacy, and the freedom to focus on the activities or sightings that matter most to you. It’s an excellent choice if you want a tailored experience or prefer not to share game drives.

One of the many benefits of booking with us is that every pickup and transfer between destinations and camps – even border crossings – is arranged for you. We also include any destination-specific document requirements in your itinerary, so everything runs smoothly from start to finish.
